About
David Craven is an attorney at Kalander and Nash LTD whose practice includes wills, trusts, estate planning, probate administration and litigation, guardianships, advance care planning, elder abuse issues, and business succession. He advises clients on asset protection, wealth preservation, tax minimization, fiduciary duties, will and trust disputes, and business incorporation. His work spans planning and contested matters, giving him experience with legal issues that arise before and after incapacity, death, business transitions, or disputes over estate administration.
David earned a J.D. from New England School of Law and a B.A. in Historical Studies and Political Science from the University of Rhode Island. His education in law, history, and political science supports legal analysis, written advocacy, and an understanding of institutional processes. He is licensed to practice in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. His academic and professional background provides a foundation for estate, probate, elder-law, and business matters that require close attention to documents, fiduciary obligations, family circumstances, and statutory requirements.
David previously served for five years as a Rhode Island State Prosecutor in the Attorney General’s Office. His prosecutorial work included organized crime, white-collar crime, narcotics cases, and matters involving child, elder, and animal abuse. That litigation background complements his current probate and estate practice, especially when disputes involve contested documents, fiduciary conduct, vulnerable individuals, or allegations of wrongdoing. He also teaches about the legal system as an adjunct professor at the Community College of Rhode Island.
David Craven is affiliated with the Rhode Island Bar Association Probate and Trust Committee and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. His practice brings together estate planning, probate litigation, elder issues, guardianships, advance directives, and business succession work. He applies prior prosecutorial and courtroom experience to matters requiring careful investigation and advocacy while helping clients plan for future needs, administer estates, address fiduciary responsibilities, protect vulnerable family members, and resolve disputes involving wills, trusts, or probate proceedings.
