David A. Herrman

David A. Herrman is an attorney and head of the Real Estate Practice at Cairncross & Hempelmann. He brings strong insight into real estate transactions in today’s complex economy. His work spans financing, development, leasing, acquisition, and disposition of major projects throughout the Pacific Northwest region.

David earned a B.A. from the University of Washington in 1994. He later received his J.D., With Great Distinction, from the University of the Pacific in 1998. During law school, he was a member of the Order of the Coif and served as an Editor of the McGeorge Law Review.

David works closely with clients to build strategies that support long-term growth. He advises businesses across sectors, including restaurants, hotels, mixed-use projects, condominiums, shopping centers, and single-family developments. His clients range from local retailers to national developers, including Daly Partners, Evolution Projects, and Sea Creatures.

David has significant experience in acquisitions, leasing, and development matters. He assists Chris Hansen with property acquisition, leasing, and operations in Seattle’s SoDo district for a proposed sports arena. He also represents clients in lease negotiations for restaurants, retail, office, and warehouse spaces across the region.

David advises on financing transactions, including construction loans and private equity raises. He represents developers in the acquisition and sale of condominium and apartment projects. He also supports single-family builders with land aggregation, acquisitions, and dispositions, helping guide projects from early planning through completion.

David’s honors include recognition by Chambers USA in Real Estate since 2023. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2021 and named among Seattle Elite by Legal 500 in 2026. He has also received awards from Super Lawyers® Magazine and Connect CRE.
