Dave Burns

Dave Burns is the owner and founding member of Dave Burns Law Office, LLC, where he has practiced for more than 20 years. His litigation practice emphasizes probate and estate planning law disputes, bankruptcy litigation, trust litigation, guardianships, and conservatorships. He also handles select civil matters for existing clients and through referrals from other attorneys. He represents clients in the Twin Cities and accepts selected matters elsewhere in Minnesota, combining courtroom advocacy with negotiation when resolution outside trial serves client interests.

Burns earned his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law. His legal education supports a practice centered on litigation strategy, legal analysis, and courtroom advocacy. His work is informed by a professional background in finance and strategy as a former business management consultant, experience that assists when disputes involve financial records, business concerns, estate assets, or bankruptcy issues.

Burns represents debtors and creditors in bankruptcy adversary proceedings and handles claims involving dischargeability, fraudulent transfers, preference actions, avoidance actions, asset sales, stay relief, and plan confirmation objections. His probate and estate work includes contested administration, trust disputes, guardianship and conservatorship proceedings, and related court matters. He belongs to the Minnesota State Bar Association and participates in its bankruptcy and probate sections. He serves on guardianship and conservatorship panels and represents clients through the Commitment Defense Project.
