Daniel S. McConkie

Daniel S. McConkie is a Shareholder at Kirton McConkie and a member of the Litigation section. He brings over 30 years of experience in risk management, insurance defense, personal injury, and products liability. He represents insureds and public entities, with strong trial experience in federal and state courts.

Daniel earned a JD from Seattle University School of Law in 1983. He also holds an MA in English from the University of Utah, completed in 1980, and a BA in English from the same institution, earned in 1978, which together build a strong academic foundation for legal practice.

Daniel has extensive experience in criminal law, including prosecution and defense. He prosecuted cases in the Salt Lake County Attorney’s Office, focusing on drug abuse, violent crimes, and homicide. He also served as a Special Assistant Attorney for the state of Utah in a capital homicide case before the United States Supreme Court.

Daniel is recognized for professional excellence, earning honors such as Super Lawyers national: Insurance Coverage (2013) and Mountain States Super Lawyers distinctions from 2012 to 2018. He is also listed in Utah Legal Elite in the Insurance and International categories and holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
