Dana E. Prescott is a partner with Prescott, Jamieson, & Murphy Law Group LLC in Saco, Maine. He has been licensed in Maine and Massachusetts since 1983. His practice focuses on family law, complex domestic relations, probate, business litigation, appeals, and dispute resolution for clients, parties, and organizations.
Dana earned his BA, cum laude, from Western New England College in 1980. He earned his JD from Vermont Law School in 1983. He earned his MSW from Boston College School of Social Work in 2005. He earned his PhD from Simmons University Graduate School of Social Work in 2014.
Dana is licensed before the United States Supreme Court, the First Circuit Court of Appeals, federal district courts, and the courts of Maine and Massachusetts. He is a Licensed Master Social Worker. He held an instructor appointment at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and teaches social welfare policy at Boston College.
Dana has extensive trial experience in domestic relations, probate, and business litigation. His work includes divorce, non-married partnerships, economic misconduct, business valuations, support, parental rights, de facto parenting, grandparents’ rights, interpersonal violence, and civil rights issues. He also assists with mediation, references, arbitration, and appeals in complex cases and disputes.
Dana is the Past President of the New England and Maine State Bar Associations. He is a former Chair of the MSBA Family Law Section. He is also a rostered guardian ad litem. He has served on the board of the National Organization of Forensic Social Work and as Past President.
Dana E. Prescott is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He co-edits the Journal of the AAML. He is also a frequent consultant, writer, and speaker on ethics, policy, social work, forensics, trial practice, and family law matters and appeals.
