About
Curtis P. Bounds is a Delaware family law attorney with more than three decades of experience in domestic relations matters. He handles adoption, alimony, child support, custody, divorce, property division, protection-from-abuse petitions, prenuptial agreements, separation agreements, termination of parental rights, and visitation. His practice focuses on business valuation and the dissolution of marital estates for high-net-worth clients, where financial detail and careful planning are often essential.
Curtis earned a B.A. from the University of Dallas and continued his studies at Braniff Graduate School. He then earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1990. His academic background prepared him for careful legal analysis and complex problem-solving. This foundation supports his work in family law matters involving detailed financial records, disputed property, and important decisions affecting children and families.
Curtis has appeared in every state court in Delaware, including appeals before the Delaware Supreme Court. He has also litigated in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, including international child abduction matters involving parents’ rights and discovery requests under 28 U.S.C. § 1782 for foreign proceedings. Earlier in his career, he regularly practiced before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware before focusing entirely on family law in the mid-1990s.
Curtis P. Bounds is certified as a family law mediator and arbitrator and has helped resolve disputed property division and support claims. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and has held leadership roles with the Delaware State Bar Association’s Family Law Section and the Delaware Family Law Commission. He has been recognized by the Chambers High Net Worth Guide, The Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and Lawdragon. He also provides pro bono service when requested by Family Court or the Office of the Child Advocate.
