Christopher R. Decker

Christopher R. Decker is the managing partner of The Law Offices of Decker & Jones in Denver, Colorado. He has focused on criminal defense since entering practice in 1995 and represents clients facing charges ranging from DUI and drug offenses to sexual assault, kidnapping, burglary, violent crimes, and murder. Decker also handles federal criminal matters and has experience with civil rights claims involving police brutality and excessive force, as well as Title IX investigations.

Decker earned a J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law in 1995 and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Vermont in 1986. He also graduated from the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute in 2006. His education and advanced trial training developed a strong foundation in courtroom advocacy, witness examination, case strategy, and persuasive presentation, skills that support his work in complex criminal and civil matters.

Decker began his career with the Colorado State Public Defender, where he served for more than a decade and handled thousands of criminal cases. He has tried more than 220 cases to verdict and secured complete acquittals in matters involving sexual assault, assault, drug distribution, burglary, theft, kidnapping, witness intimidation, and murder. His appellate work has also produced published decisions, and his civil litigation experience includes successful Section 1983 claims and a $21 million defamation verdict in 2023.

Christopher R. Decker has held leadership roles within the Colorado criminal defense community and served on the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar’s board of directors from 2003 through 2016, including as president from 2015 to 2016. He was appointed to Colorado’s Criminal Justice Act Panel of federal defense attorneys and has taught trial practice, lectured on sexual assault defense, and presented continuing legal education programs. Decker combines extensive trial experience with focused preparation and strategic advocacy in high-stakes cases.
