Christopher earned a J.D. from Suffolk University School of Law in 1992 and a B.A. in Political Science and US History from the University of Rhode Island in 1989. Christopher has defended attorneys in approximately 100 legal malpractice claims and has represented municipalities in civil rights, discrimination, constitutional, and administrative disputes. He regularly handles probate matters involving estate administration, guardianships, and will contests. He has served as assistant solicitor for Jamestown and Exeter, special solicitor for Cranston, and Guardian Ad Litem in Superior Court and probate courts. His personal injury experience includes serious accident claims involving complex liability and insurance coverage questions.
Christopher Orton has had cases decided by the Rhode Island Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. His broad litigation background allows him to work across injury claims, public-sector disputes, business matters, insurance issues, probate proceedings, and appeals. He combines courtroom experience with advisory roles involving municipalities and organizations, giving clients the benefit of a practice shaped by trial work, appellate advocacy, administrative proceedings, and long-term general counsel responsibilities.
