About
Christopher Hutchison is an attorney with Abram, Gulab & Hutchison who represents people facing criminal charges in Delaware. His defense practice draws on extensive experience with misdemeanor matters, felony prosecutions, traffic offenses, and complicated criminal investigations. He works on matters requiring attention to charging decisions, evidence, negotiations, and courtroom strategy. His background gives clients an informed perspective on the different stages of a criminal case and the issues that can shape a defense.
Hutchison earned a B.S. from Widener University in 1999 and a J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 2002. He was admitted to practice in December 2003. His legal training preceded work in both prosecution and private practice, providing a foundation for analyzing evidence and legal procedure. That combination is especially relevant to criminal matters that involve multiple potential charges, contested facts, or significant consequences for an accused person.
Before joining the firm, Hutchison spent eleven years as a prosecutor in the Delaware Department of Justice’s Criminal Division. He handled drug cases, vehicular fatalities, murder investigations, and racketeering matters, and supervised felony screening and trial units. He also participated in developing specialty court programs and spoke on wiretap investigations, search and seizure, and trial advocacy. This work involved both preparing complex cases and making decisions about their appropriate resolution.
Hutchison received the Delaware Department of Justice’s Distinguished Deputy Attorney General’s Award and a Delaware State Police commendation related to an organized crime investigation. He has also served on legislative and court-program committees and trained other legal professionals. His experience on the prosecution side informs his approach to criminal defense, particularly when evaluating investigations and trial risks. Christopher Hutchison offers clients detailed knowledge of Delaware criminal proceedings and a practical approach to case preparation.
