About

Christina Lesher is a Houston elder law and estate planning attorney who helps older adults, people with disabilities, and their families address legal and care-planning needs. Her work includes Medicaid planning, special needs planning, guardianship, veterans’ benefits, and matters involving estates and probate. She also advises parents and caregivers on community-based waiver programs and disputes involving benefit denials or reductions. Her approach draws on experience in social work as well as legal practice.

Christina earned a Bachelor of Social Work, summa cum laude, from Texas State University in 1997 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center in 2003. While in law school, she clerked for an elder law attorney, researched health care ethics at Baylor College of Medicine, and worked with Harris County Probate Court Number One on probate and guardianship matters. Her legal education built on earlier work helping families apply for Medicaid-funded nursing home benefits.

Christina previously worked as a social worker and legal assistant in an elder law practice, where she helped clients assemble documentation and navigate Medicaid applications. Those experiences gave her direct insight into the pressures families face when a relative needs long-term care. Her legal practice addresses the related questions of eligibility for benefits, planning for disabilities, deciding whether guardianship is needed, and preparing for the administration of an estate. She also helps clients respond to problems involving access to care and services.

Christina Lesher has served on the boards of the Texas Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Alzheimer’s Association’s Houston and Southeast Texas chapter. She has also spoken to professional and community groups about elder law and Medicaid planning. Her legal and social work backgrounds support a practice focused on protecting vulnerable people, explaining complicated benefits systems, and helping families make informed decisions about care, planning, and legal protection.
