About

Cheyenne N. Chambers is a Charlotte attorney with more than a decade of complex litigation experience in state and federal courts. Her practice focuses on appellate litigation, civil rights, criminal defense appeals, and North Carolina estate planning. She handles civil rights matters involving constitutional law, education rights, employment discrimination, and police misconduct. She also draws on prior federal service as a Senior Trial Attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Chambers earned her J.D. cum laude from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2014, where she served as Executive Editor of the Ohio State Law Journal and Parliamentarian of the Black Law Students Association. She received an M.A. in American History and a B.A. in History and Political Science with Honors, cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University in 2011. Her academic training supports the detailed research, analytical writing, and constitutional analysis central to her work.

Chambers clerked for the Honorable Paul J. Watford of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from 2015 to 2016 before later becoming a partner at a North Carolina civil rights practice. At the Department of Justice, she focused on employment discrimination and assisted with vetting federal judicial candidates. Her appellate experience includes successfully arguing Tully v. City of Wilmington, a 2018 decision that recognized a new cause of action for government employees under the North Carolina Constitution.

Cheyenne N. Chambers was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in civil rights from 2018 through 2021 and received Top 40 Under 40 recognition from The National Black Lawyers in 2020 and 2021.
