About
Cherise Dyann Loy is the founding member of Loy Law, P.L.L.C. in Reston, Virginia. Her practice centers on family law and includes adoption, child custody, support, divorce, abuse and neglect, and related matters. She also has experience in criminal law and personal injury. In addition to privately retained representation, she serves as a court-appointed lawyer in matters involving juveniles and adults seeking to preserve parental rights.
Loy earned her J.D. from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where she attended the evening program while working full time. She completed her undergraduate degree at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Her education and early professional responsibilities provided a practical foundation for handling family disputes, court proceedings, and cases involving parents, children, and other clients facing significant legal consequences.
Loy began her legal career clerking for Robert D. Dain and contributed to the development of Dain, Oxley & Associates and its successor firm. After admission to the Virginia State Bar, she practiced with the firm on a range of legal matters before creating Loy Law. She later narrowed her practice to family law matters while continuing work involving criminal law and personal injury, as reflected in her current practice areas.
Cherise Dyann Loy practices in Fairfax, Prince William, Loudoun, Fauquier, and other area county courts. Her work includes collaborative and traditional family law representation and court-appointed advocacy for juveniles and parents involved with social services or custody issues. Her practice combines long-term local courtroom experience with a focus on family relationships, parental rights, and practical resolution of disputes that can directly affect a client’s household and future.
