Charles Bauer

Charles Bauer is a Senior Attorney III with Gravis Law in Boise who focuses on family law. His practice includes divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, collaborative law, adoption, paternity, minor guardianships, modification and relocation, enforcement actions, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and related proceedings. He has handled family law cases across Idaho and brings extensive appellate experience to disputes involving complex family and property issues.

Bauer earned a B.A. from Principia College in 1976 and a J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1979. He later served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Idaho College of Law, teaching Community Property and Family Law classes at the Boise campus. His education and teaching experience support a practice that frequently requires careful interpretation of Idaho family law and clear explanation of legal standards to clients.

His experience includes nearly 20 appeals before the Idaho Supreme Court involving child custody and relocation, interstate custody, divorce, community property, and other family law questions. Bauer has also written and lectured on family law topics for Idaho State Bar continuing legal education programs and other seminar sponsors for decades. His representative appellate work includes matters addressing the treatment of prior custody-order violations in later custody determinations.

Charles Bauer has served as chair of the Idaho State Bar Family Law Section and received the section’s Award of Distinction in 2018. He has practiced family law in Idaho for decades and has held leadership roles in Boise family law firms before and during his work with Gravis Law. His practice combines trial, appellate, teaching, and professional leadership experience in family law.
