Charles B. Milliken is a shareholder at Decker Jones, P.C., in Fort Worth, Texas, with four decades of experience advising businesses, executives, and families. His legal practice focuses on business and corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and estate and succession planning. He also served as the firm’s managing partner for more than 20 years, giving him a unique perspective as both legal counsel and business operator.
Mr. Milliken earned a J.D. from Baylor University School of Law in 1983 and a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1980.
As outside general counsel to manufacturing and distribution companies, Mr. Milliken advises on entity formation, governance, employment matters, contract negotiation, and compliance. He also has significant experience facilitating buy-sell agreements and managing business transactions. His M&A work includes representing clients in complex acquisitions and divestitures, such as the recent sale of a professional employee leasing company to a publicly traded firm.
Mr. Milliken also maintains a long-standing estate planning practice, assisting clients with wills, trusts, and wealth transfer strategies. His work includes federal estate and generation-skipping tax compliance for estates of all sizes. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Texas since 1985.
In addition to his legal accomplishments, Charles B. Milliken is widely respected for his civic leadership. He has served on numerous boards, including the North Texas Community Foundation, United Way of Tarrant County, Trinity Habitat for Humanity, and Catholic Charities Fort Worth.
