About
Celeste E. Laramie is an attorney at Gravel & Shea PC in Burlington, Vermont. She frequently represents survivors of domestic and sexual abuse in personal injury actions against abusers and those who enabled them. Her litigation practice also includes commercial and contract disputes, employment disputes, probate matters, and real property issues. She represents clients before courts and municipal panels in a range of contested proceedings.
Celeste earned a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 2011 and a B.A. from Georgetown University in 2006. Before joining the firm in 2017, she worked as a trial attorney in the Public Defender Division of the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Massachusetts. Her legal education was followed by trial practice representing public defender clients before she moved into civil litigation. That background accompanies her current work pursuing remedies for abuse survivors and handling commercial and property disputes.
Celeste has appeared in the Vermont Superior Court, Vermont Supreme Court, and United States District Court for the District of Vermont. She was co-lead counsel in a 2019 child sexual assault civil jury trial whose verdict was affirmed in 2021. In 2022, she secured a $5.25 million federal jury award in a physician insemination case. Her property work includes partitions, tax assessment appeals, and permitting disputes.
Celeste E. Laramie belongs to bar associations and associations for justice and has served on the Vermont Bar Foundation board. She treats each client’s needs and goals individually in seeking civil remedies. Civil litigation can require balancing evidentiary issues, procedural demands, and the personal impact of a dispute. Her practice combines trial experience with attention to those circumstances when pursuing claims or resolving contested legal issues.
