About

Caroline S. Earle is the founder of Earle & Freeman, PLC in Montpelier, Vermont. She advises individuals, businesses, and government on civil, employment, business, estate planning, and probate matters. Her career includes both private practice and public service in Vermont. She combines counseling with litigation experience, helping clients understand legal questions and develop action plans suited to the circumstances and practical demands of their matter.

Earle earned a J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law in 1993. Since then, she has practiced exclusively in Vermont in public and private roles. Her legal education provides a foundation for assessing claims, interpreting legal duties, and preparing arguments. Her subsequent experience adds practical context to that training, particularly in disputes involving employment responsibilities, public institutions, and matters requiring civil or probate court representation.

Earle previously served as Chief of the Civil Litigation Division in the Vermont Attorney General’s Office. She also served as Commissioner of Human Resources for the State of Vermont. These roles contribute experience in trial advocacy and workplace administration. In private practice, she represents employers and employees, together with clients facing civil and probate issues, applying experience from government service to questions arising for individuals and organizations.

Caroline S. Earle emphasizes straightforward explanations of the law and practical action plans for clients. Her community service includes leadership in Rotary, including a term as District Governor for District 7850 in 2022–2023. Her practice connects advice on legal obligations with experience handling disputes when court representation is needed. This combination helps clients evaluate their circumstances, understand the available choices, and prepare for the next steps in their matter.
