Carol earned her Bachelor of Science degree magna cum laude from Pace University in New York City in 1983. She then completed a Master’s degree in Counseling and Personnel Services at Fordham University in 1984. Later, she earned her Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law, where she also contributed to the Law Review.

After law school, Carol began practicing in consumer bankruptcy law, working on cases involving student loans, credit reporting, and debt collection practices.
