Bridget Romero is a partner in the Employment and Labor group at Lathrop GPM in Kansas City. She advises large and midsize companies, nonprofits, business owners, human resources teams, and in-house counsel on workplace legal matters. Her work includes employment and separation agreements, wage and hour classifications, employee handbooks, workplace investigations, and regulatory compliance. She also helps employers address sensitive personnel issues and develop practices intended to reduce workplace disputes.
Bridget earned a J.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 2004 and a B.A. from Santa Clara University in 1996. She served as managing editor of the Missouri Environmental Law & Policy Review. Her educational background supports a practice that requires careful statutory interpretation, legal analysis, and communication with employers facing changing labor and employment requirements. She is admitted to practice in both Kansas and Missouri.
Bridget has handled employment discrimination charges before the EEOC and unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board. She has also represented employers in discrimination and retaliation litigation, including two matters that resulted in complete defense verdicts. At Lathrop GPM, she has served as Personnel Counsel since 2014, managing internal employment issues and helping develop preventive policies. Her work covers practical counseling as well as courtroom advocacy.
Bridget has been recognized in Chambers USA for Missouri labor and employment work and has been selected for The Best Lawyers in America. Her professional activities include presentations on employment law, workplace investigations, and immigration compliance. She has also served on Cristo Rey Kansas City’s board of trustees and chaired the Kansas City Commission for New Americans following a mayoral appointment.
