Brian S. Colón has built a legal career centered on public service, community advocacy, and complex litigation matters across New Mexico. His work includes personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, environmental litigation, civil rights, and public entity law. He has also handled matters involving trucking accidents, class actions, and climate alteration disputes. Throughout his career, he has focused on helping vulnerable communities pursue accountability and fair outcomes through the legal system.

Brian earned a B.S. in Finance from New Mexico State University in 1998. He later received his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2001. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner. As the first person in his family to complete college, he developed a strong commitment to education, leadership, and public advocacy that continues to influence his legal work and community involvement today.

Brian previously served as New Mexico State Auditor from 2018 to 2022. During his time in office, he worked on financial recovery efforts that secured more than $13 million for seniors affected by insurance fraud schemes. He also directed the first compliance audit focused on ADA parking and access standards at state facilities. His leadership in public office emphasized transparency, accountability, and improvements within government systems that affected residents throughout the state.

Brian has remained active in organizations that support diversity, mentorship, and legal education in New Mexico. He has served with the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association, Albuquerque Community Foundation, and New Mexico Community Trust. He also helped establish the UNM/NMHBA Law Camp, which encourages students interested in the legal profession. Brian S. Colón continues to advocate for fairness, access, and community engagement while representing clients in significant legal matters throughout New Mexico.
