Brian J. McKeen, founder of McKeen & Associates, is a top Michigan medical malpractice attorney. He has over 40 years of legal experience. Since earning his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1982, Mr. McKeen has represented clients nationwide in complex medical malpractice and personal injury cases.
Under his leadership, McKeen & Associates has consistently achieved record-breaking verdicts in Michigan. The firm secured the state’s largest medical malpractice verdict in 2001, a $55 million award in Hall v. Henry Ford Health System. It also earned top verdicts in 2002, 2006, and 2007, including awards of $22.5 million, $16 million, and $35 million, respectively. These landmark cases show Mr. McKeen’s skill and drive to hold negligent parties accountable.
Mr. McKeen’s legal influence extends beyond the courtroom. He serves on the executive boards of the Michigan and American Associations for Justice. He has held prominent roles in the AAJ. He chaired three groups: the Professional Negligence Section, the Medical Negligence Exchange Group, and the Birth Trauma Litigation Group. Mr. McKeen has a B.S. in Business Administration and Political Science from Central Michigan University (1978). He also has a J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where he excelled in moot court and wrote for the Michigan Bar Journal. He also shares his expertise as a lecturer on medical malpractice and obstetrics law at Boston University School of Medicine.
