About

Brian Carter Boyd is Of Counsel at Munson, Cacciola & Severin, LLP in Anchorage and was a founding member of the firm in 1985. He advises Alaska businesses, Alaska Native corporations, oilfield service contractors, commercial fish processors, landowners, and individuals. His practice includes corporate law, commercial transactions, oil and gas matters, real estate, public land issues, and Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act matters, with an emphasis on practical business counseling.

Boyd earned a J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1981 and a B.A. with distinction from Cornell University in 1978. After law school, he clerked for Justice Warren Matthews of the Alaska Supreme Court from 1981 to 1982. His academic background and judicial clerkship provided a strong foundation for analyzing contracts, property rights, governance issues, and complex legal questions that can affect commercial projects and long-term business relationships.

Boyd has spent his career counseling clients on commercial and transactional contracts, land use, oil and gas issues, and corporate governance. His work has included development of Alaska Native corporation lands and negotiation of agreements connected to major resource projects, including access arrangements associated with the Alpine Oil Field. He helps clients structure relationships, evaluate rights and obligations, and address the business and land issues that arise in development and resource-related transactions.

Brian Carter Boyd combines decades of Alaska legal experience with a focus on transactions that involve business operations, land, resources, and corporate decision-making. As Of Counsel, he continues to advise clients whose matters require knowledge of Alaska’s commercial environment and its unique land and Native corporation framework. His work helps organizations and individuals manage agreements, governance responsibilities, real estate interests, and resource-development issues with careful attention to long-term objectives.
