Bret Busacker

Bret Busacker is a partner at Dorsey & Whitney LLP in Boise who provides strategic legal counsel on employee benefits, executive compensation, and related corporate governance matters. He advises private and publicly held businesses, including multinational companies, on benefits and compensation programs affected by tax, labor, and securities regulations. He also works with management committees, compensation committees, and boards of directors on compliance and strategic business initiatives.

Busacker earned a J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2000. He received an M.B.A. from Washington State University in 1997 and a B.A. from Brigham Young University in 1995. His combined legal and business education supports work involving plan design, executive compensation, corporate structure, regulatory requirements, and the practical financial considerations that accompany employee benefit programs.

His experience includes designing and administering incentive compensation, equity compensation, executive retirement, qualified retirement, and welfare benefit plans. Busacker advises on ERISA fiduciary matters, Affordable Care Act compliance, HIPAA, Internal Revenue Code requirements, employment and severance agreements, and compensation and benefit provisions in mergers and acquisitions.
