Brendan Berry

Brendan Berry is a criminal defense attorney with Banks & Brower who brings prior prosecution experience to the defense of accused clients. Before entering defense practice, he served as a Marion County prosecutor and progressed from juvenile matters to misdemeanor and major felony cases. His background includes work on domestic violence prosecutions and trials involving offenses such as OVWI, domestic battery, and armed robbery.

Brendan received his legal education at the Robert H. McKinney School of Law, where he was involved with the Black Law Student Association. His law school experience included participation in the Outreach Clinic, adding a client-service perspective before he entered prosecution and later criminal defense. That combination of legal study and practical exposure helped prepare him to work directly with people navigating the criminal justice system.

Brendan’s experience spans several roles within criminal law. As a prosecutor, he built and tried juvenile, misdemeanor, and major felony cases, including domestic violence matters. His Outreach Clinic work and prosecution background now inform his defense practice, giving him experience viewing cases from different positions within the system. He uses that perspective to evaluate evidence, anticipate prosecution strategy, and prepare criminal matters for resolution or trial.
