Benjamin Freedman

Benjamin Freedman is a dedicated family law attorney in the SW&L Family Law Practice Group. With years of experience serving clients in North Dakota and Minnesota, Benjamin focuses on divorce, custody, child support, adoption, and restraining order matters. Known for resolving complicated cases efficiently and skillfully litigating challenging disputes, he listens closely to clients’ needs and develops creative strategies to help achieve their goals.

Benjamin earned his J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, where he received the Dean’s Award for the top score in Family Law and was selected for a writing fellowship. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Northwestern – St. Paul with a double major.

Licensed since 2014, Benjamin is an experienced family law attorney representing clients in trials, hearings, and settlements throughout North Dakota and Minnesota. He launched his career as a staff attorney for the Minnesota District Court, gaining first-hand insight into how judges evaluate family law cases and make decisions that impact families. Combined with his law clerk and extern experience during law school, this background allows Benjamin to build strong, well-prepared, and persuasive arguments in court for his clients.

Benjamin Freedman is admitted to practice in North Dakota and Minnesota and is a member of the State Bar Association of North Dakota and the Minnesota State Bar Association. His practice extends to the United States District Court, District of North Dakota. Outside of his legal work, he stays active in his community by supporting his Fargo church’s Sunday School program and volunteering with causes like the Special Olympics Golf Classic and Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids’ Sake.
