About

Benjamin A. Schock is an elder law attorney who helps seniors and families protect assets while planning for long-term care. His work focuses on Medicaid planning, estate planning, probate, special needs planning, and veterans’ benefits. He guides clients through complex legal decisions with clear strategies that support stability and peace of mind.

Benjamin completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Pre-Law from Michigan State University in 1999. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law in 2006. During law school, he concentrated on Taxation and built practical experience through academic journals, legal clinics, and student legal services.

Benjamin brings more than a decade of legal experience to his elder law practice. Before entering private practice, he worked as an associate attorney for eight years, handling a wide range of legal matters. He regularly assists clients with Medicaid planning, nursing home planning, trusts, probate administration, and guardianship matters.

Benjamin is also an experienced trial attorney who has appeared before courts throughout the Metro Detroit area. Much of his courtroom work has involved probate matters, including contested estates and fiduciary disputes. He has also represented individuals in criminal defense cases, offering legal support during difficult and unexpected situations.

Benjamin combines legal knowledge with a strong financial background. Prior to practicing law, he worked as a credit administrator for General Motors Acceptance Corporation and later served as a licensed financial advisor with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. This experience allows him to create practical elder law plans that address both legal and financial concerns.

Benjamin A. Schock has received professional recognition for his work in elder law. He was named a 2016 Michigan Rising Star in the field of Elder Law and was also recognized as one of Michigan’s Top Lawyers in the year 2015.
