Bartholomew T. Russo

Bartholomew T. Russo is a partner at Bamundo Zwal Schermerhorn & Caffrey LLP in New York. He manages the firm’s insurance defense practice, representing clients in liability disputes and litigation. His practice includes automobile liability defense, trucking liability defense, bus liability defense, and labor and employment defense. He appears in courts throughout New York City’s five boroughs and works to resolve contested claims through litigation and negotiation.

Russo earned a B.S. from St. John’s University in 1983 and a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in 1987. His academic training provided the legal foundation for decades of litigation practice. He is admitted to the New York bar and to the federal district courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

He regularly handles insurance defense matters involving motor vehicles and commercial transportation, where questions of liability and damages can lead to contested litigation. Russo prepares cases for trial while also negotiating settlements when appropriate. His courtroom work across New York City requires analysis of factual disputes, claim exposure, and procedural issues. He also addresses labor and employment defense matters as part of his litigation practice.

Russo has been active in several professional associations, including the New York State Bar Association and Brooklyn Bar Association. He previously served as president of the Columbian Lawyers Association of Brooklyn and has chaired its Good & Welfare Committee. Bartholomew T.
