About
Barry Fayne is a family law attorney leading a practice in Southfield, Michigan. He represents clients in divorce, child custody, and parental rights disputes, including matters that involve valuable assets and complicated family relationships. His practice also includes grandparent rights, elder law, probate and trust litigation, real estate disputes, and corporate litigation. Barry works with families seeking workable agreements while remaining prepared to litigate contested matters.
Barry earned a B.S. from Wayne State University in 1969 and a J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law in 1973. He was admitted to practice in Michigan and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in 1973. His legal training and long experience in both state and federal court support his work on the financial and personal issues that arise in family disputes.
Barry has handled litigation since 1973 and has tried cases involving family law as well as disputes against national corporations. Before concentrating on matrimonial matters, he litigated significant business-related conflicts. He now applies that courtroom background to divorce and custody litigation, including contested parenting arrangements and disputes involving businesses or real estate. When clients can reach a fair agreement, he favors negotiation that limits further conflict and post-judgment proceedings.
Barry Fayne combines decades of trial experience with an emphasis on realistic advice about legal options and outcomes. He recognizes that parents often need to maintain a working relationship after a divorce and that an agreement can serve families better than prolonged litigation. When settlement is not possible, his experience with contested cases helps clients address disputed facts and present their positions in court. His practice remains focused on protecting clients’ interests through both negotiation and trial.
