Ariel Sosna

Ariel Sosna is a founding partner of Van Voorhis & Sosna LLP, and a certified Family Lawyer recognized by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. She has been exclusively practicing family law in California since 2007, focusing on the San Francisco Bay Area. Her expertise spans a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, support, and complex property division.

Ariel’s legal career began after earning her Juris Doctor with a focus on Family Law from U.C. Hastings School of the Law. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the U.C. Berkeley. Before establishing her own practice, Ariel worked at a prominent San Francisco law firm, where she gained extensive experience in family law litigation and dispute resolution.

Ariel completed a 40-hour Mediation Intensive Training Program in 2013 and has been actively involved in the collaborative practice community. Despite her focus on alternative dispute resolution methods, she remains an accomplished litigator, representing clients effectively in court when needed. Her dedication and skill have been consistently recognized by Super Lawyers magazine, where she was named a Rising Star for nine consecutive years (2009-2018) and a Super Lawyer for five consecutive years (2019-2024). She has also earned an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, signifying the highest level of professional excellence.

Ariel is deeply committed to improving the family law process and supporting those navigating complex legal challenges. She serves as a settlement officer for the San Francisco Superior Court and assists self-represented litigants at the San Mateo Superior Court. Additionally, she has contributed to the legal profession as co-chair of the Family Law Section of the Barristers Club within the San Francisco Bar Association. Ariel is an active member of multiple professional organizations, including the State Bar of California Family Law Section and the San Francisco Bar Association Family Law Section.
