Ariel Sosna

Ariel Sosna is a founding partner of Van Voorhis & Sosna LLP, and a certified Family Lawyer recognized by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. She has been exclusively practicing family law in California since 2007, focusing on the San Francisco Bay Area. Her expertise spans a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, support, and complex property division.

Ariel’s legal career began after earning her Juris Doctor with a focus on Family Law from U.C. Hastings School of the Law. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the U.C. Berkeley. Before establishing her own practice, Ariel worked at a prominent San Francisco law firm, where she gained extensive experience in family law litigation and dispute resolution.

Ariel completed a 40-hour Mediation Intensive Training Program in 2013 and has been actively involved in the collaborative practice community. Despite her focus on alternative dispute resolution methods, she remains an accomplished litigator, representing clients effectively in court when needed. Her dedication and skill have been consistently recognized by Super Lawyers magazine, where she was named a Rising Star for nine consecutive years (2009-2018) and a Super Lawyer for five consecutive years (2019-2024). She has also earned an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, signifying the highest level of professional excellence.

Ariel is dedicated to making the family law process more efficient, accessible, and less stressful for clients facing complex legal issues. She serves as a settlement officer for the San Francisco Superior Court and provides hands-on support to self-represented litigants in the San Mateo Superior Court. Ariel has also strengthened the legal community as co-chair of the Family Law Section of the Barristers Club of the Bar Association of San Francisco. She remains actively involved in the profession through memberships in leading organizations, including the State Bar of California Family Law Section and the San Francisco Bar Association Family Law Section.
