About

Anna Deal is an immigration attorney with MacDonald Hoague & Bayless in Seattle. She represents individuals and families in removal defense, family-based immigration, humanitarian relief, and naturalization matters. Her practice includes helping asylum seekers and survivors of violence or crime, including clients with arrest or conviction histories. She also advises people and organizations exploring employment-based immigration options and navigating complicated applications or proceedings.

Anna earned a J.D. cum laude from Boston College Law School in 2013 and a B.A. in International Studies cum laude from the University of Washington in 2008. Her academic preparation supports her work across immigration procedures and international issues. She began her legal career as an attorney advisor at a U.S. immigration court, researching and drafting decisions for immigration judges, an experience that shaped her understanding of adjudication.

Before joining her current firm in 2025, Anna served as legal director of a nonprofit law firm in Nebraska. She supervised 26 attorneys representing immigrants and refugees while supporting community education and broader advocacy. Her direct representation includes removal proceedings, asylum, family immigration cases involving inadmissibility waivers, and applications for citizenship. She approaches these cases with attention to the facts and the procedural issues affecting each client.

Anna Deal is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is admitted before the Eighth and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. Conversant in Spanish, she combines individual case preparation with experience supervising immigration services. Her work helps clients understand their options and pursue lawful routes through changing immigration requirements.
