About

Angela McIlveen is a North Carolina Board-Certified Specialist in Family Law who represents individuals and families in divorce, child custody, child support, adoption, alimony, equitable distribution, and separation matters. She combines courtroom advocacy with a practical understanding of the emotional and financial concerns that often accompany family disputes. When settlement serves a client’s interests, she also uses mediation to pursue workable resolutions outside the courtroom.

McIlveen earned her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where she was a member of the Order of Barristers. She received her B.A. in English from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Her legal education and advocacy training established a strong foundation for analyzing complex family law issues, presenting persuasive arguments, and communicating clearly with clients facing difficult personal decisions.

McIlveen’s experience includes litigating contested family law cases and advising clients on the financial and parenting issues involved in separation and divorce. McIlveen also teaches and speaks at conferences and continuing legal education programs on child custody evaluations, adoption, discovery and evidence, complex asset division, and other North Carolina family law topics. Her work reflects a commitment to both effective representation and the continued development of the family law profession.

Angela McIlveen has been selected to North Carolina Super Lawyers for 2025 and 2026 and was named to Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite for 2025 and 2026. She was also recognized as a Leader in the Law in 2025 and as a Family Law Power List honoree in 2024. In addition to her advocacy and educational work, she serves on the board of Lawyers Mutual of North Carolina, bringing leadership and practical insight to her professional service.
