Amber K. Dodds is Managing Partner of Bracewell LLP’s San Antonio office and counsels employers in all areas of labor and employment law. She advises on workplace compliance, employee investigations, discipline, harassment prevention, and retaliation claims. She represents employers in complex disputes, regulatory matters, and workforce management issues.
Amber earned her Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law in 2012, with honors, where she served as Article and Notes Editor of the Texas International Law Journal and received the Dean’s Achievement Award for Outstanding Performance in Business Associations. She also holds a Master of Theological Studies from Boston University, 2008, summa cum laude, and a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity University, 2006, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
Amber advises employers on leave administration, background checks, consumer reports, employee pay practices, overtime compliance, per diem policies, pay deductions, and exemption classifications. She drafts employment policies and handbooks tailored to specific industries. She also counsels clients on compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, including the General Duty Clause and hazard-specific standards.
A significant part of Amber’s practice involves labor and employment issues in mergers and acquisitions. She conducts employment diligence, evaluates risk, integrates staffing structures, and drafts employment provisions in purchase and transition services agreements. Her work supports smooth business transitions and long-term compliance.
Amber represents employers in administrative investigations, hearings, settlement negotiations, and federal and state court litigation. Her experience includes discrimination, wrongful termination, restrictive covenants, wage-and-hour disputes, and Fair Labor Standards Act collective actions, where she has secured favorable verdicts, dismissals, and settlements.
Amber K. Dodds is Board Certified in Labor and Employment by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
