Alivia Ingebretson

Alivia Ingebretson is an associate attorney at Nilson Brand Law based in the firm’s Mayville, North Dakota, office. Her practice focuses primarily on family law, including divorce, child custody, parenting time, and child support matters. Ingebretson also represents clients in criminal law, estate planning and probate, political subdivision matters, and other legal concerns across North Dakota. She provides practical guidance to individuals and families facing difficult decisions and emotionally challenging circumstances.

Ingebretson earned her J.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2023. She also received a B.A. from the University of North Dakota with a major in managerial finance and accounting. Her financial training supports her work in family law matters involving property division, business interests, child support calculations, and other financially sensitive issues. She also served as a law clerk for the Northeast Judicial District from 2021 to 2022, gaining additional insight into court procedure and legal analysis.

Ingebretson serves part-time as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Traill and Steele Counties, a role that provides valuable prosecutorial and courtroom experience. She also has experience representing clients in federal criminal defense matters. This work gives her perspective from both sides of the courtroom and helps her evaluate evidence, legal issues, and case strategy carefully. She is admitted to practice in North Dakota and Minnesota and brings a broad advocacy background to each matter she handles.

Ingebretson is a member of the Randy H. Lee American Inns of Court and the Grand Forks County Bar Association. She also serves as a regional representative for the Women’s Law Section of the State Bar Association of North Dakota.
