Alison Arden Besunder

Alison Arden Besunder is an Equity Partner and Chair of the Trusts & Estates Planning and Fiduciary Litigation Group at Goetz Platzer. With extensive experience in Trusts & Estates, Guardianship, Estate Litigation, Elder Law, and Business Succession Planning, she delivers strategic counsel to clients on complex matters. Alison’s expertise also spans Intellectual Property, Media & Technology, where she advises clients on trademarks, copyrights, and brand protection, particularly for intellectual property owners, including writers, artists, and technology developers.

Alison earned her Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and her Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Buffalo. She is admitted to practice in New York, Massachusetts, and various federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Her diverse practice focuses on helping clients understand and implement proactive estate planning strategies to minimize disputes and maximize efficiency in transferring wealth and business assets.

Before joining Goetz Platzer, Alison founded Arden Besunder P.C., a boutique law firm she managed for over a decade. Earlier in her career, she was a commercial litigation partner at a national law firm, handling complex cases across the construction, real estate, insurance, finance, and healthcare sectors. Her litigation experience provides a strong foundation for resolving disputes through negotiation, mediation, or trial.

Alison’s prior work with the Grievance Committee and her involvement in high-profile First Amendment litigation have further enriched her ability to navigate multifaceted legal challenges. She has been recognized on the New York Metro Super Lawyers list annually since 2019 and is an adjunct professor for Columbia Law School’s Trusts & Estate Planning Externship.

In addition to her legal practice, Alison is an active New York State Bar Association member, contributing to committees on privacy law, technology, and trusts and estates.
