Alexander W. Scott is a partner at Buckley & Zopf, Attorneys at Law in Claremont, New Hampshire. His practice focuses on real estate law, estate planning and probate, elder law, and business law. Drawing on decades of legal and public service experience in Sullivan County, he helps clients address important legal matters with practical guidance, careful judgment, and a strong understanding of local institutions.

Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts from Norwich University, graduating magna cum laude in 1992 and attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class in the Corps of Cadets. He received his law degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law, formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center, in 1998, finishing in the top twenty percent of his class. His academic training supports careful legal analysis, clear communication, and sound judgment across transactional and planning matters.

Before joining the firm, Scott developed extensive experience in criminal, municipal, and government law. He served as an Assistant Sullivan County Attorney, worked at the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, and handled criminal litigation and appeals. As Claremont’s police chief from 2003 to 2017, he also worked on civil matters, collective bargaining, contracts, municipal codes, code enforcement, and landlord-tenant issues. He has been a member of the New Hampshire Bar since 1998.

Alexander W. Scott has also contributed to New Hampshire’s legal and public service communities through teaching and government appointments. He served on Governor John Lynch’s Judicial Selection Committee from 2004 to 2012 and taught constitutional law for the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council, River Valley Community College, and Norwich University.
