About
Alejandro Alvarado is an Albuquerque attorney with Rothstein Donatelli LLP whose practice focuses on civil rights and criminal law. He represents clients in matters involving criminal defense and the protection of individual rights. His earlier work as a community organizer, paralegal, and court clerk gave him practical exposure to legal systems before law school. That background supports a client-centered approach to conflict resolution, defense strategy, and advocacy in matters involving serious personal and constitutional concerns.
Alejandro earned a J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2024. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Chicana/o Studies from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2015 and an associate degree in Spanish from Colorado Mountain College in 2015. During law school, he served as Student Articles Editor for the UNM Tribal Law Journal and earned distinctions for legal ethics, clinical work, and academic achievement.
Alejandro gained hands-on experience through an externship with the US District Court for the District of New Mexico, where he drafted an opinion and strengthened his legal research skills. He also represented clients through the UNM Southwest Indian Law Clinic, practicing criminal defense in Tribal Courts across New Mexico and handling immigration matters in US Federal Immigration Court in El Paso. His published scholarship has addressed the inclusion of Tribal interests in employment-based immigration policy.
Alejandro Alvarado is admitted to the State Bar of New Mexico, the US District Courts for the Districts of New Mexico and Colorado, the US Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the Tenth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel. He is affiliated with the American Association for Justice, New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association, and State Bar sections focused on immigration and Indian law. His practice combines civil rights advocacy, criminal defense, research, and courtroom experience.
