Adam Sofen

Adam Sofen is a partner at A&O Shearman in New York, where he counsels clients on complex real estate transactions, financings, and joint ventures. He brings over 15 years of experience advising REITs, pension funds, developers, and institutional investors in the acquisition, disposition, leasing, and financing of high-value real estate assets.

Adam earned his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School in 2005 after graduating magna cum laude from Harvard College with an A.B. in 2001. He began his legal career clerking for two esteemed federal judges before entering private practice, including over a decade with Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where he served as special counsel in the real estate group.

Throughout his career, Adam has played a pivotal role in high-profile deals, including the $2.6 billion sale of 11 Madison Avenue and the $3 billion acquisition of a logistics portfolio for Mapletree Investments. His experience spans sectors such as office, retail, hospitality, and logistics, and he regularly structures joint ventures and restructures distressed real estate loans.
