About

Rebecca J. LaPoint is an Associate and management-side labor and employment attorney who advises employers on workplace law, litigation, and compliance. Her practice includes federal and state wage and hour requirements, leave laws, anti-discrimination obligations, employee handbooks, and workplace policies. She also represents employers before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts, helping organizations address employment disputes while managing legal risk and day-to-day workforce concerns.

Rebecca earned a J.D., summa cum laude, from Albany Law School and also studied at Bard College. During law school, she served as Associate Editor of the Albany Law Review, worked as a research assistant for a professor who authors the New York Practice treatise, and interned for Judge Mae A. D’Agostino of the US District Court for the Northern District of New York. Her academic background strengthened her research, writing, and procedural skills.

Rebecca also handles traditional labor matters for employers. Her experience includes employee petitions seeking union representation, collective bargaining negotiations, labor arbitrations, and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. She assists clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New York State Division of Human Rights, and other federal, state, and local agencies. Her work combines preventive counseling with litigation and administrative advocacy when workplace disputes move into formal proceedings.

Rebecca J. LaPoint is admitted in New York and before the US District Courts for the Northern, Southern, and Eastern Districts of New York. She was recognized as a New York Super Lawyers Rising Star in Employment and Labor in 2025. Her law school honors included the CLEA Outstanding Clinical Student Award, Jacob L. Rubenstein Prize for Highest Standing in Procedure Subjects, Dean Thomas Sponsler Honors Teaching Fellowship, and membership in the Justinian Honorary Law Society. She also writes and speaks on developing labor and employment issues affecting employers.
