Matthew R. Gunter is a seasoned employment law attorney based in Morgan & Morgan’s Orlando office. With a background in criminal prosecution and civil litigation, he advocates for workers across the country in class actions involving wage violations, discrimination, FMLA, and employee misclassification.
Matthew earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the University of Florida in 2005 and obtained his Juris Doctor from Barry University, Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, in 2009. His legal career began in criminal law, serving as an Assistant State Attorney in Florida’s 18th Judicial Circuit, where he prosecuted thousands of cases and built a solid trial foundation.
Matthew transitioned to employment law with a focus on complex litigation under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Title VII. His current work includes unpaid overtime, ADA violations, systemic discrimination, and retaliation cases—often filed as large-scale collective and class actions representing employees across multiple states.
Matthew’s courtroom experience and litigation strategy have resulted in significant outcomes for clients, including a $9 million employment law settlement in 2024 and other multi-hundred-thousand-dollar results in ADA and wage disputes. He is admitted to the bar in Florida and California, along with numerous federal courts nationwide.
