Cody Hoesly

Cody Hoesly is a shareholder at Barg Singer Hoesly PC in Portland, Oregon. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and property disputes, including business torts, contract claims, insurance coverage, consumer class actions, employment disputes, trusts and estates, antitrust, copyright, and related matters. Cody has litigated hundreds of cases through motions, bench and jury trials, and appellate arguments, representing both corporate and individual clients in significant disputes.

Cody earned a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law in 2005 and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Lewis & Clark College in 2002. Before entering private practice, he clerked for Justice Rives Kistler of the Oregon Supreme Court and Judge Henry Breithaupt of the Oregon Tax Court. His academic and judicial experience supports a litigation practice that requires careful research, persuasive writing, and strategic analysis across trial and appellate proceedings.

Cody’s representative experience includes eight-figure disputes for national and regional corporate clients, six- and seven-figure disputes for individual and corporate clients, investor litigation, and appeals in the Ninth Circuit and Oregon and Washington appellate courts. His matters have ranged from commercial litigation and securities issues to personal injury, political law, and criminal-law appeals. He also regularly teaches continuing legal education programs and writes about appellate, securities, motion, and tort law.
